Stella Bamurekye started Stebar Safaris in 2004 in Kampala, Uganda, where she grew up and traveled extensively throughout Eastern and Southern Africa. More recently, she moved to Canada, adopted it as her home and proudly became a Canadian citizen in 2023. But of course, her love of Africa is never far away!

With many years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, Stella is now continuing her dream job by offering the beauty of travel to African destinations with confidence and purpose. 

Stella believes that travel is a highly fulfilling part of life and is always looking for places for her customers to explore. She says wherever you travel, you learn new things that leave an impact and stay with you for the rest of your life. Not only do you learn about people, culture, and the history of foreign places, you learn about yourself. The power of travel lies within the destinations and experiences that impact your mind, body, and soul. 

“I enjoy putting a smile on a stranger's face. Arranging special trips for customers is highly rewarding, especially when they are once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I love tailoring Safaris with the best in African luxury and am always searching for the best wines and personalized menus on the continent.

My own adventures took me to South Africa - a country rich in natural beauty, with a wide range of wild animals and endless landscapes. Visiting Robben Island, the Apartheid Museum and experiencing the long walk to freedom of Nelson Mandela is magnificent and humbling all at once. Visiting Kruger National Park with its spectacular sightings and Cape Town with its world class wineries and Table Mountain left me forever inspired.

Then I experienced Tanzania. An inspiring and exciting destination with the Serengeti, Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, canoeing and cultural exploration in Lake Eyasi, and refreshing days in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Fabulous!

And Rwanda – a stunning land of a thousand hills. It is a country of beauty just waiting to be explored including Akagera National Park with its mixture of Savanah and forested areas that took my breath away.

Then, of course, there were the striking experiences of Kenya; with its culture and exclusive experiences including spectacular game animals in all their glory.” There is always something for everyone in this culture rich country, so your travel can be as action packed, or as relaxing as you wish, in absolute comfort and luxury.

Stella’s Support of Women:

One of Stella’s goals is to use her experience to educate and pave the way for others, and to build strong and empowered communities in her home country of Uganda as a way of giving back.

Traveling to different countries empowered her to support what is dear to her heart. Community rural tourism. She continues to help women in her own community establish their own businesses through her non-profit organization called Rukoma Women Cultural Village, supporting over ninety women and girls who have experienced physical and emotional abuse.

This belief in supporting women led Stella to create ‘From Wellness to Wholeness’ retreats. Fabulously tailored as exciting Women Wellness adventure trips to various African destinations for women who want to reconnect with themselves and empower and nourish their souls. These are life-changing trips for women to help heal, recharge, and ultimately come back to themselves. 

Stella invites everyone to find their inner selves and experience the beauty of their own journey through invigorating and inspiring travel to Africa.
